Job Summary
An Estimator III is responsible for developing project cost estimates for multiple trades requiring a knowledge of the work being performed and the ability to do quantity take-offs from the available documents and enter those into a standardized database. The estimates will need to be organized to meet the Company's and clients' expected structure.

Essential Functions
  • Actively supports the Company's commitment to safety and its "Core Values."

  • Prepares estimates by calculating takeoff elements of the work accurately and assigns them to the appropriate items in the database.
  • Solicits subcontract and vendor pricing utilizing uniform corporate structure and evaluates returned bids for completeness.
  • Identifies deficiencies in the drawings and understands the need for scope clarifications; drafts scope clarifications as needed.
  • Develops quantity-based estimates from partial information.
  • Understands work sequence and assists in the development of a resource loaded proposal schedule.
  • Estimates the requirements for craft support labor, staff, equipment, and facilities.
  • Organizes the estimate in a manner required to meet the needs of the project.
  • Provides guidance to field personnel and lower-level Estimators when they help the team.
  • Performs constructability assessments, e.g., installation access, man lifts, scaffolding, cranes, etc.
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field, or equivalent combination of education/experience in lieu of degree.
  • 4+ years of field and/or office experience including a minimum of 2 years' experience as an Estimator or a Field Engineer involved with estimating or cost monitoring.
  • Familiar with construction work and terminology.
  • Ability to quickly visualize the finished product from the drawings and other documents provided.
  • Good basic mathematical comprehension.
  • Good oral, written and interpersonal communication skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to prioritize and work on multiple projects and capable of working independently.
  • Self-motivated enthusiastic team player willing to work with others and adopt new ideas and methods.
  • Good computer skills including an operating knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint. Familiarity with Sage estimating, project scheduling software (MS Project or Primavera) and databases will be an advantage.
  • This position may require occasional travel and extended workdays.
