Position: Area Branch Operations Coordinator
Location: Phoenix, AZ territory

The role of the ABOC is to offer SAP support to branches, to provide the AVP assistance with reporting and evaluating branch metrics, analytical support for pricing initiatives, SAP training beyond what the New Hire/Refresher training team offers, vendor training, and product training, as needed. The ABOC will also support efforts to improve the safety, profitability, effectiveness, accuracy, and efficiency of the Branch operations, through the support of Core Strategy I and II, effectively training and enforcing SOPs, and conducting Branch SOP Audits.
  • Assist and support DMs and Branches to comply with Safety Management Systems, in conjunction with the Regional Safety Department. Support the Branches on the execution of the Accident and Injury Reduction Plans consistent with Airgas Safety Council and Safecore guidelines.
  • Review and gain an understanding of Standard Operating Procedures Manual, Safety Management System, SAP processes and learning tools, Business Warehouse (BW) tools, and SharePoint tools. Provide support to the branch leaders in the Area to improve the understanding and effective use of these procedures and systems.
  • Provide training and conduct audits on Standard Operating Procedures. Share results with DMs and the branch staff as well as the AVPs. Follow up by measuring progress at the branches and communicating with the AVP and DM.
  • Support the Company objective to execute Core Strategy I and II activities in the branches and throughout the Area.
  • Where appropriate, assist the Area leaders to improve transactional accuracy and SAP proficiency.
  • Support efforts to ensure that new employees at the branches receive the appropriate training on systems procedures and processes.
  • Assist the AVP and DMs by compiling branch metrics for the branches within the Area and identifying and communicating results and sharing best practices throughout all assigned branches.
  • Assist with making certain that SAP enhancements, changes, corrections, reports, and other communication from various functional leaders is shared with the appropriate associates within the business Area. Actively participate in the "cascade" of information to the branches that comes from regional or corporate leadership. This may include policy changes, roll-outs, road shows, new products or services, safety compliance and other local or national projects.
  • Communicate routinely with AVP regarding progress, obstacles, issues, and process improvement suggestions at the branches. Communicate with leadership when ineffective or poor processes are identified that are contributing to transaction inaccuracy or should be otherwise improved.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge and understanding of enhancements and/or changes to SAP systems, SOPs, and Safety procedures or policies.
  • Support effective teamwork, communication and collaboration between the branch associates, field sales teams, Sales Specialists, and BSC personnel.
  • Conduct routine visits to Branches to assist the AVP and his or her direct reports by identifying and evaluating branch performance, safety compliance, inventory levels, SOP compliance, and training gaps. May also be called upon to help cover branch management duties when the Branch Manager is absent.
  • Travel to company locations may be required
  • Performs other duties as assigned

  • Bachelor's degree preferred or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience
  • Five (5) years experience in retail, sales or operations
  • Ability to multi-task in a high volume setting.
  • Strong analytical and communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Team oriented with a continuous improvement outlook.
  • Basic working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook)
  • Working knowledge of SAP. Competency must be at least to the level of the branch manager, but advanced skills preferred.
  • Ability to multi-task and manage multiple priorities in a timely and efficient manner and anticipating critical deadlines
