Job Description

INVISTA is searching for our next Application/Bench Chemist. This is a hands-on laboratory-based developmental role at our facility in Longview, TX facility. We are seeking an individual that has the willingness to develop, learn and collaborate as part of our polymer R&D team. The Application/Bench Chemist is responsible for technical aspects of various lab experiments including, design of experiment, troubleshooting, testing, and reporting.

This role will focus on delivering innovative technical solutions to our global business and manufacturing facilities. The Application/Bench Chemist will drive superior value through disciplined application, innovation, rapid experimentation, and critical & economic thinking.


What You Will Do

  • Execute design, testing, characterization, and benchmarking of experiments.
  • Perform gravimetric solvent extraction tests.
  • Development methods for new analytical requirements using chemical and mechanical characterization techniques for polymeric material.
  • Incoming raw material testing and validation.
  • Perform analytical characterization of polymeric particles using specialty equipment and instrumentation (including LC, GC, FTIR, and HT-GPC.
  • Preventative Maintenance and troubleshooting of analytical equipment.
  • Analyze data, derive conclusions, document findings, write SOPs, and prepare reports.
  • Prepare and conduct laboratory testing to demonstrate the commercial viability of new technologies.
  • Demonstrate safe laboratory practices and EH&S compliance excellence.
  • Ability to problem-solve, use critical thinking skills, and work prioritization.
  • Tracking of chemicals, waste, and lab supplies.

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

  • Degree in Chemistry, Biology or Sciences.
  • Minimum 1 Year experience in Industrial research / bench chemistry in a manufacturing setting.

What Will Put You Ahead

  • Experience in research and development of materials or polymers.
  • Analytical testing experience in a polymer lab.
  • Strong organic or inorganic chemistry background.
