Job Description
Foreign Exchange (FX) Analyst/Associate
This position conducts FX sales, marketing and relationship management activities along with trade execution for any qualified Commercial Bank and Wealth Management customer utilizing any Comerica Capital Markets (CM) product or service. In conjunction with the Relationship Manager assigned to the customer, actively manage a defined and prospective base of FX clients to generate new business and to maximize NII commensurate with credit, market and relationship pricing model risk.
Position Responsibilities:
Revenue Generation and Negotiating
  • Participate in client driven NII of between $750K -$2.50mm per year.
  • Maximize NII while maintaining customer relationships.
  • Follow CM Policy, Pricing Grid and DOS standards.
  • Communicate clearly and simply to both external and internal customers all required CM product information.
  • Use internal systems and programs for new NII development opportunities.
  • Lead in preparing presentation materials and participate in client conversations focusing on cross-border payments and FX risk management
Relationship Management
  • Act as a trusted advisor to CM and Bank Relationship Managers by understanding client's FX needs and maintaining and growing relationships with key decision makers.
  • With management oversight, actively manage a defined book of FX business and pursues new sales opportunities for both existing bank clients and prospects.
  • Structure appropriate customized CM risk management products and services.
Monitoring Markets & Pricing
  • Discuss FX hedging strategies with clients, model and execute client transactions while acting as team player.
  • Responsible for constantly monitoring and analyzing global market prices, news, event risks and product price forecasting to assist in advising both external and internal customers on macroeconomic events that could affect their FX, IRD or Energy risk management needs.
  • Use Bloomberg, Refinitiv, Spectrum, and CM risk management systems along with intraday discussions with senior sales traders and CM Managers to enhance sales opportunities along with learning and development.
Governance and Risk Management
  • Adhere to all aspects of the CM Discretion Operating Standards Policy.
  • Onboard new clients, set up credit lines, negotiate ISDAs.
  • Operate within defined risk limits for compliance, regulatory and internal risk requirements.
  • Ensure all trades are immediately offset.
  • Ensure all credit limits and risk policies are strictly followed.
  • Adhere to the Banks KYC, AML, etc. policies. Fully understand and utilize all CM risk mgmt. systems.
Collaboration
  • Support maintain and grow internal partner relationships with RMs, PMs, Wealth Management, CM & Operations peers.
  • Participate in all team projects, SPI, seminars, etc.
  • Assist CM Operations and Support staff when required in error resolution.
  • Participate in database management, accounting system updates, etc.
  • Fully understand appropriate product Back Office and Middle office functions.

Position Qualifications:

First Level Officer, Foreign Exchange Analyst
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited University in Accounting, Finance, or Economics preferred
  • At least 1 year sales and marketing experience in customer financial market products (foreign exchange, interest rate derivatives, securities, etc.) or experience in related financial market products
  • At least 1 year of experience in real-world economics and macroeconomic systems analysis
  • MBA or CFA or work in progress preferred
Assistant Vice President, Foreign Exchange Associate
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited University in Accounting, Finance, or Economics preferred
  • At least 3 years sales and marketing experience in customer financial market products (foreign exchange, interest rate derivatives, securities, etc.) or experience in related financial market products
  • At least 3 years of experience dealing with corporate trade and risk execution staff or similar financial risk
  • At least 3 years of experience in managing Market Risk
  • At least 3 years of experience in real-world economics and macroeconomic systems analysis
  • MBA or CFA or work in progress preferred
