Payroll and Benefits Coordinator

The Payroll & Benefits Coordinator will perform administrative tasks and services to facilitate human resource processes at our New York location, while servicing one of our California teams. This role is responsible for the seamless execution of payroll and benefits to the team while providing a positive employee experience.

THE ROLE

In this role you will be responsible to:

Payroll Processing

  • Manage end-to-end payroll processing for all employees, ensuring accuracy and compliance with relevant federal and local (California) laws and regulations.
  • Calculate and process payroll deductions, taxes, and other adjustments.
  • Keep abreast of changes in labor laws and tax regulations to ensure compliance.

Employee Records & Documentation

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee records, including personal and job information, tax forms, and benefits enrollment.
  • Process new hire paperwork and conduct orientation for new employees.
  • Process terminations in a timely manner and issue final payments in accordance with local laws
  • Manage employee files and confidential information in compliance with privacy regulations.

Benefits Administration

  • Administer employee benefits programs, including health insurance, retirement plans, and other employee perks.
  • Facilitate open enrollment processes and provide support for benefits-related inquiries.
  • Supervise Leave of Absence Program.

Compliance and Reporting

  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws.
  • Generate and analyze payroll reports to identify discrepancies and ensure accuracy.
  • Familiar with California Law.

Support HR, Finance & Procurement Ad Hoc Processes

  • Support HR, Finance and Procurement teams with ad hoc processes such as reporting, auditing, invoicing, etc.

QUALIFICATIONS

We'd love to see candidates who have:

Essential:

  • HS Degree or Equivalent
  • 2+ years of experience in payroll or benefits department
  • Working knowledge of payroll and benefits
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Experience with ADP software, or similar HRIS

Desirable:

  • AAS or BS in Human Resources related field preferred
  • Knowledge of California State Employment Law preferred
  • Ability to work Pacific Time hours preferred
