This position will work a hybrid schedule which includes a combination of working both onsite on Campus and remote.

DESCRIPTION

As an academic administrative unit in the School of Medicine, the mission of the Department of Family Medicine is to provide compassionate, evidence-based, patient-centered health care in an academic setting to a diverse and inclusive population, while also providing rigorous training to a broad spectrum of physicians and trainees that will become leaders in contemporary and translational research. The Department's vision is to create a healthier world for all by applying innovative and transformative healthcare while training the next generation of thoughtful leaders to continue discovering impactful interventions for the treatment and prevention of disease.

The Department of Family Medicine has approximately 250+ personnel including 85 salaried faculty and Management and Senior Professional (MSP) physicians and 82 core and affiliated trainees, residents and fellows. Department missions total approximately $70 million: $30 million annual clinical budget, $30 million research portfolio and $10 million annual department budget including teaching and self-supported programs. Under the leadership of the Interim Chair, the Department is currently undergoing significant strategic planning efforts. This includes the management, strategic growth and improvement of four faculty practices focused on value-based care and innovative care models across Family Medicine, Sports Medicine, Behavioral Health, and the Clinical Center for Integrative Medicine (CIM). In addition, advances are being made in the philanthropic development mission of the Department, which is comprised of five divisions, six centers and fifteen programs.

Divisions(1) Family Medicine; (2) Integrative Health; (3) Integrated Behavioral Health;(4) Preventive Medicine; and (5) Sports Medicine comprise the five divisions of the Department.

Centers(1) The Center for Integrative Education (CIE);(2) The Center for Integrative Medicine (CIM); (3) The Center for Mindfulness (CFM); (4) The Center for Integrative Nutrition (CIN); (5) The Krupp Center for Integrative Research (CIR); and (6) Learning Health Systems (LHS) Center.

ProgramsThe various programs within the Department include but are not limited to:(1) Clinical Services (Family Medicine Ambulatory, Inpatient and OB services, Center for Integrative Medicine, Integrated Behavioral Health, and Sports Medicine)(2) Community Outreach;(3) Justice, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (JEDI);(4) Family Medicine Residency;(5) Family Medicine and Psychiatry Residency,(6) Family Medicine Scripps Chula Vista Affiliated Residency;(7) Emergency Medicine Clinical Informatics Affiliated Fellowship;(8) Hospice and Palliative Medicine Fellowship;(9) Undergraduate Medical Education (UME);(10) Physician Assessment and Clinical Education (PACE);(11) Preventive Medicine T32 Epidemiology Fellowship;(12) Research;(13) Sports Medicine Fellowship;(14) Student Run; and (15) Wellness

Under the general direction of the Department Vice Chair for Administration (VCA), the Department of Family Medicine (DFM) Senior Financial Analyst Supervisor manages a team of three Financial Analysts. Performs short and long-term planning. Regularly works on highly complex issues where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors, exercises judgment in selecting methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria for obtaining results. Performs other duties as assigned.

This position has a broad scope in financial and resource planning in addition to financial team management. The position serves as a technical leader with a high degree of knowledge and independence. The position will lead reporting efforts across all five divisions and perform financial reporting for faculty and non-faculty researchers; support Teaching and Research Discipline portfolios; self-supporting activities; programmatic activities; residencies; manage UC Path labor and Oracle financial ledger reconciliation; coordinate annual all funds budget, clinical budget, variance reports, and internal controls reporting.

Responsible for managing the administrative operations of a school, OR a medium to large academic department, OR several small departments within a college, OR a medium to large non-academic department. Typically includes all or most of the following functions: IT, facilities, student services, contracts and grants, budgetary financial management and/or human resources. Manages a professional staff, typically large, and/or comprised of professionals in various fields. Assumes accountability for decisions made by subordinates. Performs long and short-term planning for function. Erroneous decisions or failure to achieve goals results in additional costs and personnel, and serious delays in overall schedules.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Eleven (11) years of related experience, education/training, OR an Advanced degree in related area plus five (5) years of related experience/training.

  • Advanced knowledge of finance policies, practices, and systems.

  • Ability to identify, collect, and analyze information from multiple sources.

  • Advanced ability to effectively present complex finance-related information both verbally and in writing in a clear and concise manner.

  • In-depth ability to use multiple spreadsheet and database software tools to gather information for specialized, complex financial analysis, fiscal management, and financial reports.

  • Advanced interpersonal skills at all levels within the organization; advanced service orientation and critical thinking skills; and attention to detail. In-depth ability to use organizational skills to multi-task in a high-volume environment.

  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities.

  • Ability to function as a member of a team.

  • Advanced knowledge and understanding of internal control practices and their impact on protecting University resources.

Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $91,300 - $170,700 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $43.73 - $81.75

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
