Job Title: Senior Tax Analyst
Job Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Tax Analyst to join our finance team. The Senior Tax Analyst will be responsible for leading tax compliance, reporting, and planning initiatives, as well as providing guidance and support to junior tax staff. This role offers an excellent opportunity for a seasoned tax professional to make a significant impact on our organization's tax strategy and compliance efforts.
Responsibilities:
  1. Tax Compliance: Lead the preparation and filing of federal, state, and local tax returns, ensuring accuracy and compliance with tax laws and regulations. Review tax provisions, deferred tax calculations, and other tax-related financial reports.
  2. Tax Planning: Develop and implement tax planning strategies to minimize tax liabilities and optimize tax savings opportunities. Conduct research and analysis of tax laws, regulations, and court rulings to support tax planning initiatives.
  3. Tax Reporting: Prepare and analyze tax-related financial reports, including tax provision calculations, effective tax rate analysis, and tax account reconciliations. Ensure compliance with financial reporting requirements and GAAP principles.
  4. Tax Audits: Manage tax audits and inquiries from tax authorities, including gathering documentation, responding to inquiries, and negotiating settlements. Coordinate with external auditors to ensure compliance with audit requirements.
  5. Tax Projects: Lead special tax projects, such as mergers and acquisitions, restructuring, and international tax planning. Provide guidance and support to cross-functional teams to achieve project objectives.
  6. Tax Technology: Utilize tax software and tools to automate tax processes, improve efficiency, and ensure accuracy in tax calculations and reporting. Stay updated on emerging tax technologies and best practices.
  7. Mentorship and Training: Provide guidance, mentorship, and training to junior tax staff. Foster a culture of continuous learning and professional development within the tax team.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or Enrolled Agent (EA) certification required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in tax accounting or related field, with a focus on corporate taxation.
  • Strong understanding of federal, state, and local tax laws, regulations, and compliance requirements.
  • Proficiency in tax software (e.g., CCH ProSystem fx, Thomson Reuters OneSource) and Microsoft Excel.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.

  • the individual's skill sets, experience and training;
  • licensure and certification requirements;

With that said, as required by local law, Vaco believes that the following salary range referenced above reasonably estimates the base compensation for an individual hired into this position in geographies that require salary range disclosure. The individual may also be eligible for discretionary bonuses.
