HERE IS WHAT YOU WILL DO

The Office of Undergraduate Admissions is looking to hire a Marketing Specialist who, under the supervision of the Assistant Director of Marketing and Communications, will develop and execute an email marketing communication plan geared toward students applying to Georgia State University. This position will also work on the Mainstay Chatbot system and with other departments on email campaigns.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Email Marketing Communications

  • Draft, build, and maintain effective email marketing communications for Admissions recruiting and Admissions-sponsored events using the Slate CRM system in alignment with the recruitment calendar.
  • Work within established brand and style guidelines and standards for messaging across all marketing channels.
  • Analyze digital marketing campaign results, highlighting successes, trends, and opportunities. Maintain a formal process to update and share findings with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ensure timely creation and sending of planned email marketing campaigns, including setup and testing, to guarantee that messages are delivered in the correct format and template.
  • Establish communication flows for new audiences aligned with the marketing strategy for targeted student, parent, and counselor segments.
  • Write and edit creative promotional literature such as blogs, digests, and newsletters.
  • Troubleshoot issues with email creation and deployment- Work with the Assistant Director to develop a content calendar that aligns with the admission process.
  • Conduct research and address individual student issues to enhance communication effectiveness.
  • Work with the central marketing team to improve marketing strategies and social media coordination.
  • Develop or review queries for communications, particularly Ad Hoc messaging.
  • Monitor all marketing-related processes and implement improvements to enhance marketing productivity
  • Develop and maintain database contact lists within CRM systems.
  • Stay on top of the latest trends and best practices in digital marketing.

Mainstay Chatbot

  • Develop and deploy content for the Mainstay text messaging system.
  • Manage and update the Chatbot knowledge base as needed.
  • Manage triage logs for Chatbot inquiries. - Liaise with team managing Retention Bot for various alignment processes.

External Collaboration

  • Liaise with campus partners to coordinate, create, and execute email campaigns (e.g., Student Financial Services, New Student Orientation, Housing, etc.).
  • Work with the data and technology team to purge non-deliverable email addresses and opt-outs and maintain population rules and queries.
  • Work with the data and technology team to institute effective workflows to communicate with target audiences (email and publication exports/mailings).
  • Work with PRMC (Public Relations and Marketing Communications) to obtain branded visual elements and landing pages for digital communications.
  • Provide Admissions content ideas to the university social media team.

Other Admissions Support

  • Train Admissions staff (and others as needed) on how to use basic Slate delivery tools.
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

Minimum Hiring Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Communication, English, Public Relations, Journalism or Marketing and three years of related experience or a combination of education and related experience.

Preferred Hiring Qualifications:

  • Two years of experience working with marketing/communication plans.
  • Use of analytics and related dashboards. Excellent writing skills.
  • Experience communicating with many types of audiences.
  • Experience with Undergraduate Admissions. Slate CRM experience is a plus.
