Job Overview: The Employment Placement Specialist will be responsible for networking to increasing employment opportunities and work to secure employment placements for refugees and other qualified immigrants through trauma-informed services. The Employment Placement Specialist will work with other IRC colleagues and external parties to meet client needs and support them in achieving self-sufficiency in the United States through employment.
Major Responsibilities:
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Assess client's eligibility for program(s) and services and complete intakes for clients that are eligible for Matching Grant (MG), Refugee Employment and Training (RET), and ICM (Intensive Case Management).
  • Provide individualized support by providing direct services, referrals, and advocacy throughout entirety of programs.
  • Guide clients through employment preparation, coordinating job placements, and other career advancement services.
  • Assess and monitor client progress to support their attainment of established goals, address challenges, and to ensure that available resources are utilized.
  • Develop and cultivate long term relationships with area employers and staffing agencies to identify appropriate employment opportunities for clients.
  • Assist clients and employers as necessary with post-placement issues and continuing employment needs.
  • Monitor client job performance, wage levels, and related metrics.
  • Work with employers to ensure required documentation is gathered and documented.
  • Collaborate effectively with coworkers and partner organizations.
  • Develop programing and partnership opportunities for career development and growth.
  • Detail each client interaction in accordance with program requirements. Input client information in database(s) and assist with tracking and reporting as needed.
  • Coordinate interpretation services for providers on an as-needed basis.
  • Use personal, insured vehicle and/or public transportation to travel and transport clients and materials as needed throughout the service delivery area.
  • May train and lead the activities of volunteers.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements:
Education:
Bachelor's degree in social work or related field of study preferred.
Work Experience:
  • Experience in workforce consulting preferred.
  • Relevant professional experience in education and/or human services strongly preferred.
  • Experience working with immigrants or refugees preferred.
Demonstrated Skills & Competencies:
  • Demonstrated success working and communicating effectively in a multicultural environment.
  • Comfortable working in a cross-cultural environment and with adult and child language learners, sometimes with little or no English proficiency.
  • Comfortable with representing IRC in public forums & networking opportunities.
  • Ability to take initiative and work independently on projects.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in work product.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills combined with the proven ability to multi-task, prioritize duties, and manage time effectively.
  • Ability to work in a collaborative environment, strong relationship building, diplomacy, and networking skills; ability to effectively build internal and external relationships.
  • Strong time-management skills and ability to multi-task.
  • Comfortability with computer and web-based communication platforms.
  • Fluent in English, both spoken and written; proficiency in languages(s) spoken by IRC's clients is desired; including Arabic, Swahili, Dari, and/or Pashto.
Working Environment:
  • A combination of standard office environment, and 'Field' time within the service delivery area to perform the above outline responsibilities. Remote work may be an option at times.
  • Requires schedule flexibility and occasional weekend and/or evening work.

Posted pay ranges apply to US-based candidates. Ranges are based on various factors including the labor market, job type, internal equity, and budget. Exact offers are calibrated by work location, individual candidate experience and skills relative to the defined job requirements.

US Benefits: The IRC offers a comprehensive and highly competitive set of benefits.
