  • Job Summary:

    The Office Specialist will be responsible for the receptionist, clerical, registration and patient scheduling duties of the Ner. The Office Specialist has knowledge in the clinical indications of Neuro Diagnostics for evaluation and is responsible for ensuring that all required pre-certifications and authorizations for patient testing are obtained prior to testing.Maintains an efficient, well-organized work area and projects a friendly, professional attitude to all patients, physicians and employees.

    Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

    The following is a summary of the major functions of this individual's job. He or she may perform other duties, both major and minor, which are not mentioned below, and specific functions may change from time to time.

    1. Answer all incoming lines, screen calls, and route calls to the appropriate personnel.

    2. Schedule patient appointments/procedures, prepare and assemble patient charts.

    3. Obtain and verify admitting and insurance information from patients. Obtain pre-authorization and other forms as needed.

    4. Communicate information to patient registration for accurate pre-registration of all SDC patients.

    5. Assist, direct, and instruct patients regarding billing, insurance forms and the Sleep Disorders Center procedures.

    6. Prepare and assist in initial consultation and return patient visits. Maintain the examination room, keeping it in a neat and orderly condition and stocked with supplies.

    7. Maintain billing information, authorization, and forms for physician billing offices. Serve as SDC liaison to physician offices.

    8. Track and process all correspondence, dictation, and reports.

    9. Prepare reports and forms as required. Make copies and faxes, as needed.

    10. Order and maintain inventory of office supplies and equipment.

    Minimum Education, Training and Experience Required:

    * Two years' experience clerical/clinical in a medical office

    * Excellent communication skills

    * Excellent computer skills
