Job Description
Job Summary

The Adult Sports Building Monitor staff are responsible for daily operations at assigned indoor locations. Building Monitor staff assist the Sports Office with building staff, engineers, officials, and troubleshooting/ensuring the safety of all participants.

Position Summary
  • Supervise and monitor the main doors to the facility while remaining visible and approachable.
  • Direct customers to the gym, restrooms, etc.
  • Enforce all Milwaukee Public Schools, Milwaukee Recreation policies and rules, and City of Milwaukee ordinances.
  • Effectively communicate with building directors, building staff, engineers, officials, and patrons.
  • Ensure restrooms are open and clean along with all other needed equipment.
  • Ability to be proactive and see potential hazards before safety is compromised.
  • Complete all required paperwork/reports accurately and on a timely basis.
  • Ensure assigned locations have all of the necessary equipment and supplies.
  • Exhibit professionalism in demeaner, attitude, and dress at all times.
  • Complete all other duties as assigned.
Supervision Required

Reports to the Recreation Supervisor of Adult Sports

Job Requirements
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Able to meet the scheduling needs for this position.
  • Able to attend mandatory in-service meetings and trainings.
  • Access to reliable transportation.
  • Able to lift up to 50 lbs.

Preferred Experience
  • CPR and First Aid certifications.
  • Experience working in a public setting that involves diverse groups of people.
