Job Description

The Patient Financial Liaison is the contact for all things related to financial inquiries from patients, guarantors, physician offices and attorneys. This position is well versed and experienced in the revenue cycle and the process throughout the life cycle of the account. This role will take every effort to research and resolve the patient responsibility as it is related to incorrect insurance and coordination of benefits, denials related to eligibility and/or benefits exhausted, payment plans, and refunds. This position will work with the physician's offices and patient related to any price transparency questions and/or flat rate agreements.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates large volume of calls, diffuse upset customers and gain customer loyalty through appropriate communication and resolution
  • Reviews the patient account in HIS at the MRN level to identify system, billing, payment or other errors creating incorrect balances.
  • Reviews payer denials and understands the steps required to resolve the issue either with the patient or escalate to the Central Business Office if needed.
  • Understands the Baptist Health Price Transparency and Flat rate agreement policies and articulates to patients, guarantors and physician's offices as needed.
  • Identifies patient responsibility at the MRN level with thorough review of all accounts and EOBs and provide payment solutions, settlement offers and/or connect the patient with one of the Business Partners for options and/or payment plans.
  • Takes action to legal requests ie. Death certificates, bankruptcy, probate, GRC/Risk Management.
  • Uses multiple systems required to perform daily functions in review of claims, estimates, verifications and eligibility, patient complaints or incidents, hospital information system, patient medical record, and various payer websites as needed.
  • Reviews customer complaints from administration and provide timely feedback as requested.
  • Monitors the "Billing" e-mail and respond with timely resolution.


Qualifications

Minimum Education
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent Required

Minimum Work Experience
  • 3 years relevant experience working with health care revenue cycle Required

  • Medical Terminology,
