Occidental is looking for an experienced and motivated individual to fill the position of Lead Leak Detection and Repair based in Kermit, TX.

The Leak Detection and Repair Lead will supervise a team of Oxy and contract employees to expeditiously identify and repair leaking components at Permian facilities in the Onshore Resources & Carbon Management (ORCM) Operations. This position is key to standardizing the LDAR - OGI program to achieve compliance with Regulatory requirements to reduce the company's overall carbon emissions and impacts to air quality.

Responsibilities include:

  • Supervise Optical Gas Imaging (OGI) Technicians and coordinate their schedules/activities.
  • Streamline collaborations between Facilities, Operations and OGI Technicians to ensure timely repair of leaking components. Provide field support to remove barriers encountered during LDAR activities.
  • Manage and review survey reports for compliance with regulatory monitoring / recordkeeping requirements by using the Oxy enterprise mobile and computer applications; Truecontext, SAP, Intelex ACTS, Spotfire, Power BI and others.
  • Ensure that conducted surveys are in accordance with fugitive emissions monitoring plans and meet Federal and State regulatory requirements.
  • Routinely communicates leak detection and repair (LDAR) metrics to Operations.
  • Support the development of LDAR training materials and facilitate trainings for OGI Technicians.
  • Develop and track Team KPIs for improvements.
  • Collaborate with Field Operations to refine best practices, share knowledge and experiences, and improve training techniques.
  • Provide the tools, training, and support needed for members of the team to make their day to day decisions.

Qualifications

Education: High School Diploma or equivalent working experience


Professional/Technical Knowledge:

  • Knowledge of surface operations and familiarity with equipment & components including; Wellheads, Separators, Heater Treaters, Glycol Units, Reboiler/Regeneration Systems, Tanks, Thief Hatches/Enardos, VRUs, VCUs, Flares, Compressors, Pumps, Hi/Lo Bleed Valves, Pneumatic Controllers, Flanges & Connectors, etc.


Experience:
Minimum 5 years of Oil & Gas Industry Experience

  • Proficient MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and data analysis tools
  • Strong commitment to safety
  • High integrity
  • Strong decision making skills
  • Strong mechanical aptitude
  • Effective oral and written communication skills. Must be able to write technical reports with clear and precise language
  • Must be self-motivated, self-directed and able to work unsupervised
  • Good driving record and willing to drive to remote locations to collect data

  • Demonstrate the ability to prioritize the resolution of multiple issues to reduce impact on company performance
