YOUR DAY TO DAY LIFE
We are looking for a Sample Receiving Technician in 8020 West Doe Ave, Visalia, CA 93291 USA. Your mission will be to:
5 day work week, weekends are required.
Hours: 5am - 1:30pm or 6am-2:30pm, with some overtime. OT is paid at time and a half.
Holidays are required and paid at double time.
Full-time with benefits (Paid Time Off, Medical, Dental, Vision, 401K)
Pay Range: $18.00-$20.00 an hour, depending on experience.
Receive and log in sample in preparation for analysis. Review sample and any attached documentation to assign an identification number and enter information into Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS). Prepare documentation as necessary.
Contact client, when necessary, to obtain and clarify missing or unclear information to ensure that identification of client code, test code, and sample contents are accurate.
Store samples in appropriate manner until analysis is completed and appropriately dispose of extra samples. Ensure sample integrity is maintained.
Prepare packages for pick up by shipping vendors. Follow appropriate procedures to send packages and maintain all related documentation.
Prepare sample to be shipped to other testing facilities when necessary. Complete appropriate documentation and file accordingly.
May assist client service personnel with the development of customized client reports. Activities include: collection of data, analysis of data, and development of report.
May assist laboratory personnel with the preparation and analysis of samples.
Support corporate quality and continuous improvement process.
This position has the responsibilities and authority to identify departures from the quality system or test procedures and document such observations in accordance with the prescribed complaint system.
Perform other related duties as needed
YOUR PROFILE
Education and Experience: An associate's degree is preferred but not required. At least one year of relevant work experience.
Computer Skills: Moderate knowledge of computer operations is necessary, particularly in using keyboards for data entry into Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS). Proficiency in personal computer software is also required for data input and report generation.
Microbiology and Chemistry Knowledge: While not mandatory, a basic understanding of microbiology and chemistry is helpful for assigning appropriate sample and test codes accurately.
Organizational Skills: Strong organizational skills are essential for keeping track of samples and documentation. This involves maintaining records accurately and ensuring all necessary information is properly documented.
Time Management: Effective time management is crucial for preparing samples promptly for testing. This skill ensures efficient workflow and timely completion of tasks.
Communication Skills: Both written and oral communication skills are essential for interacting with clients to obtain or clarify test instructions. Clear communication helps in understanding requirements accurately and delivering results effectively.
General Office Skills: Basic office skills such as answering phone and filing, and other administrative tasks are necessary to support the operations of the department.
Work Environment:
The incumbent works in a laboratory setting with proper temperature and lighting control. Occasional exposure to laboratory fumes, chemicals, and materials will occur when in the laboratory. Must lift sample packages ranging from 10-50 pounds to complete job tasks. The incumbent can expect extended time spent in a standing position. Physical dexterity is necessary to effectively manipulate a keyboard. The incumbent may work in a laboratory environment that requires the wearing of a mask, laboratory coat, and insulated gloves
