Department:PLANNING AND DEVELOPMENT DEPARTMENT Organizational Unit:Building Code Compliance (50000061)

Position Type:Permanent Full Time/Part Time:Full Time

Open Until Filled.

$3,057.34 to $3,363.07 biweekly. Actual salary negotiable based on experience and qualifications. [$89,939.82 annual salary will be offered for candidates holding a Standard Building Official Certification, with up to an additional $2,500 to $7,500 annual incentive for additional Building Certifications and/or Plan Examiner Certifications held, dependent upon department operational needs]. Government Center/Viera. Work schedule is Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Performs skilled administrative work assisting in directing the County's Building Code Program and serving as the second in command to the Chief Building Official. Supervision is given to technical, professional, and clerical personnel.

REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor's degree in Architectural Engineering, Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Building Construction, or a closely related field PLUS five (5) years of experience as an architect, engineer, building inspector, building contractor, and/or building superintendent, which includes three (3) years in a supervisory capacity. Additional qualifying education and/or experience may be substituted on a year for year basis. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Must possess, or obtain prior to employment, a valid Florida Driver's license and maintain said license during the term of employment. Must possess a current valid State of Florida Standard Building Code Administrator certification, issued by the Florida Building Code Administrators and Inspectors Board (BCAIB), in accordance with the provisions set forth in Florida Statute 468.601-.633 (2000) and must maintain said certification during the term of employment. Current State of Florida Standard Inspector and Plans Examiner certifications in Building, Electrical, Mechanical, and Plumbing issued by the Florida Building Code Administrators and Inspectors Board (BCAIB) are preferred. In the event of a hurricane, major storm, natural or man-made disaster that may threaten the area, the employee will be required to perform emergency duties as directed.
