Overview

A Storeroom Attendant I, under general supervision and using detailed procedures/work instructions, safely performs a variety of warehousing and property management duties that require an understanding of the warehouse storage plan. Work involves storage, handling, shipping, receiving, and tracking a variety of equipment and materials.

Responsibilities
    Perform security screening on all inbound materials.
  • Verifying storeroom stocked materials against receiving documents, including noting and reporting discrepancies and obvious damages, routing/staging materials to prescribed storage locations.
  • Assists in verifying non-storeroom stocked materials against receiving documents, including noting and reporting discrepancies and obvious damages, routing/staging materials to prescribed storage locations.
  • Storing, stacking, or palletizing materials in accordance with prescribed storage/shipping methods.
  • Rearranging and taking inventory of equipment/materials.
  • Examining stored equipment/materials and reporting deterioration and damage.
  • Removing equipment/material from storage and preparing it for shipment.
  • Operating hand or power trucks.
  • Filling shipping or transfer orders from stored merchandise in accordance with specifications on sales slips, customers' orders, or other instructions.
  • Keeping records and performing data entry of information on equipment/material transactions
  • Ensuring that shipments are properly packaged, identified with shipping information, and loaded into transporting vehicles.
  • Tag or de-tag Government property.
  • Perform shuttle service duties.
  • Control access to and security of facility.
  • Assist with property management.
  • Performs physical inventories.

A Storeroom Attendant I, under general supervision, may perform minor tasks as needed, including, but not limited to:

  • Other duties as assigned to ensure timely project execution.
  • Maintaining facilities in clean, safe, and orderly condition
  • Organizing interior and exterior of warehouse and other facilities.
Qualifications
  • Maintain valid U.S. driver's license.
  • Must have the ability to attain site specific forklift operator certification. Demonstrate good driving record (no significant violations such as DUI, loss of license, inability to obtain personal insurance or currently covered under a high-risk insurance policy, etc.).
  • A High School diploma or GED is required.
  • The candidate must have a valid driver's license, also be able to pass requirements to operate power material handling equipment; and be able to pass Department of Transportation testing for handling/transporting hazardous materials.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills and excellent attention to detail are required.
  • Basic knowledge of computer systems and software programs for administrative duties such as email and data entry are required.

Preferred Responsibilities/Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED/TASC/ HiSET and one (1) year of shipping/ receiving, inventory control, or related work experience. Working knowledge of inventory control software.

Conditions of Employment

  • Must be able to pass a post-offer, pre-placement drug test, physical examination, and medical history check.
  • Must pass a pre-employment criminal background check and have a clean motor vehicle report (MVR).
  • All regular, non-temporary positions assigned to this classification are represented by a labor union and subject to the terms and conditions of the UWWA Collective Bargaining Agreement.
  • Able to work night, weekends, and holidays as needed.

Work Environment/Physical Demands

Physical and Mental Demands

  • Such positions may involve routine lifting up to 50 pounds, regular handling, grasping, kneeling, and carrying.
  • Constant use of vision and mental alertness is required.

Work Environment

  • Lifting of up to 50 pounds is required.
  • Kneeling, standing, and walking, and use of speech/hearing abilities for communications, constant mental alertness, and must be able to work according to schedule.

  • Become knowledgeable of and maintain awareness of the ES&H hazards associated with their work. Perform work safely in accordance with hazard controls.

  • Work only on those tasks in which they have the required competence, training, skills, and abilities so as to prevent injury to oneself, employees, the public, or the environment.
  • Maintain active involvement in the introduction, revision, and/or promotion of ES&H/ISM program activities.

Hours of Work

This is typically an 8 hour per day daylight schedule.
