ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assists in the administrative duties such as staff scheduling, payroll, conducting staff meetings, scheduling volunteer and staff training as needed, ordering supplies, approving purchase orders, maintaining vacation schedule for staff personnel, maintaining the vendor book and other administrative duties as required.

  • Responsible for the daily operation of the Gift Shop.

  • Consistently creates a welcoming environment for the customer by greeting and assisting; as well as quickly responding to customer inquiries and needs

  • Provides a strong leadership presence and control, while ensuring that all customers receive good service and quality merchandise

  • Assists in hiring to the needs of the business, actively recruiting to ensure open positions are filled quickly

  • Daily monitoring of Car Hosts during and between excursions.

  • Manage the Car Host work schedule to ensure staffing levels match expected passenger count.

  • Oversee all communications through phone and internet and provide daily crew sheets to the trainmaster.

  • Manage social events for Granite State Scenic Railway and work with the General Manager throughout the year.

  • Provide superior customer service.

  • Maintain a current working knowledge of all events, services, and procedures by reviewing event information sheets and posted or verbal communication.

  • Provide First Aid/CPR/AED in the event of emergencies.

  • Strong customer service skills with the ability to resolve customer conflicts, should they arise.

  • Read, write, and communicate effectively with co-workers and the public.

  • Deal professionally, courteously, and tactfully with the public and coworkers.

  • Flexibility to work nights, weekends and/or holidays when needed, particularly during the Fall peak season.

  • Administrative duties.

  • Additional duties as assigned.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Proven customer service and leadership experience

  • Friendly, courteous phone demeanor

  • Excellent communication skills

  • Cash management/POS experience helpful

  • Ability to multi-task efficiently & effectively

  • Work both independently and as a team

  • Ability to think through problems and produce solutions

  • Ability to learn/operate a Point-of-Sale system

  • Proficiency in using a computer (MS Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)

  • Self-motivation and the ability to work with minimal interference

  • Minimum High School diploma or equivalent.

  • Valid state driver's license.

  • Certified or willing to obtain certification inFirst Aid/CPR/AED.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Frequently required to sit, stand, walk, climb steps, handle objects, reach with hands and arms, write, talk, type, and hear.Associate is occasionally required to sit, stoop, bend and/or kneel and lift and/or move up to 35 lbs.
