Job Description

Join Cottage Health as the Advancement Communications Program Manager. The Advancement Communications Program Manager will partner with Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital Foundation and affiliated Foundations to develop and implement effective communication strategy for fundraising campaigns and annual giving activity. This is a critical role in fundraising content development, ensuring the Foundation communications engage the community and reflect the trusted Cottage Health brand. In addition to extensive development writing and communications experience, the successful candidate will bring experience in successful multi-year campaign communications strategy and strong knowledge of brand reputation, fundraising communication, project management, and content development, including exceptional writing, proofreading and editing skills. This position will work with the Marketing and Advancement departments on strategic communication to achieve outreach and fundraising goals and support donor recognition programs and engagement. Major accountabilities include:

1. a. Developing and executing strategic campaign communications plans in collaboration with Marketing/Communications and Advancement teams.

b. Writing and editing compelling and creative donor-facing print and digital content for philanthropic engagement, including messaging for campaigns, case statements, video scripts, newsletters, stewardship reports, briefings, presentations, invitations, events and fundraising appeals.

c. Managing shared Marketing/Advancement communications calendar and developing and managing project timelines for all Advancement communication-related initiatives, facilitating coordination of timely review/approval process with Advancement and Marketing colleagues to ensure deadlines are met.

d. Advising teams on campaign communication strategies and effective tools for engagement and evaluation.

e. Coordinating project graphic design, production and edits for brand consistency.

f. Developing content and facilitating regular updates for Advancement website pages to increase awareness, engagement and online giving.

g. Identifying marketing opportunities that can be leveraged to promote a culture of philanthropy, inspire giving, and include donor recognition as appropriate.

h. Assist in development of a campaign communications stewardship plan to recognize and thank donors.

i. Coordinating with other content developers (for design, web, photography) when needed and serve as liaison between Marketing/Communications and Advancement teams.

2. Evaluate projects to ensure all print and digital materials remain on brand. Proofread, fact check and edit materials to ensure consistently high standard of quality and accuracy of content.

3. Track analytics and support reporting needs of both Marketing and Advancement departments to evaluate effectiveness of outreach.

QUALIFICATIONS

LEVEL OF EDUCATION

Minimum: Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience, using the standard of 2 years of applicable experience equals 1 year of education.

TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS

Minimum: Microsoft Office. Strong writing, editing, proofreading and presentation skills. Excellent organizational skills, project management skills and attention to detail. Knowledge of fundraising, marketing, web and social media trends. Working knowledge of graphic design best practices. Knowledge of automated email marketing software and digital and social media related to marketing, stewardship and communications outreach. Experience creating email campaigns using an automated platform.

YEARS OF RELATED WORK EXPERIENCE

Minimum: 5+ years of experience in non-profit charitable giving or community engagement
