Job Description

Wage Range: $41.55 - $75.64 per hour

Posted wage ranges represent the entire range from minimum to maximum. For jobs with more than one level, the posted range reflects the minimum of the lowest level and the maximum of the highest level. Some positions also offer additional premiums based on shift, certifications or degrees. Job offers are determined based on a candidate's years of relevant experience, level of education and internal equity.
Job Summary: This is a training RN position for experienced nurses with at least three year of nursing experience who are interested in learning a new specialtyin the Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU). We provide 12-16 weeks of training depending on skill set and progress. This New to Specialty position starts during months of July, August, or September. After training is completed, a minimum 0.75 FTE required for one year.No Weekends, No Major Holidays, No Call.
Primary Duties:
  1. Assess and identify appropriate nursing diagnoses, plans, implements and evaluates patients care. Develop, update, and coordinate the patients plan of care to achieve patient goals and to optimize outcomes and transitions across the care continuum. Monitor, record and communicate patient condition as appropriate.
  2. Perform and maintain currency of essential competencies as required by specific area of hire and populations served
  3. Effectively advocate for ethical and holistic care by partnering in care planning to promote the autonomy, dignity, rights, values, and beliefs of those we serve
  4. Foster a learning environment for patient/families, nursing, and other members of the healthcare team including students; facilitate formal and informal learning for patient/families, nursing, other members of the healthcare team, and community
  5. Accountable for safety, identify and correct problems, and integrate evidence, and best practice into nursing care; use data and evidence to improve patient outcomes. Align patient safety, self-safety, and environmental safety as equally important for best outcomes
  6. Engage in ongoing professional development, practices to the top of license within the legal parameters of the Nurse Practice Act, the Nursing Social Policy Statement, the ANA Code of Ethics for Nurses, and specialty standards
  7. Lead and coordinate teams, appropriately delegates, coordinates care and collaborates with others as equal members of the inter-professional care team to integrate nursing knowledge
  8. Performs other duties as assigned.
REQUIREDfor the position:
  • Bachelors in Nursing (BSN) required within 5 years of employment if applicable
  • Licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of Washington
  • Minimum of one year experience within the last 3 years of care delivery in a monitored care area: ICU, ED, Labor & Delivery or telemetry
  • Current Healthcare Provider BLS certification by date of hire
  • ACLS by date of hire
  • PALS within 6 months of hire
  • Completion of unit competencies for peri-anesthesia care within probationary period or first 4 months if an employee transfer
  • Ability to learn proficiency in airway management/adjuncts and airway emergencies
  • Ability to identify basic EKG rhythms and related necessary interventions
  • Basic Understanding of Hemodynamic monitoring and equipment
  • Basic Understanding of Pain Management and related pharmacology
  • Basic Understanding of Cardiac and emergency medication pharmacology
DESIREDfor the position:
  • Masters degree in Nursing
  • National certification in area of specialty includingCCRN or BCEN
  • Proficiency with IV skills and techniques
  • Experience in the Charge and Preceptor roles
