SENIOR ANALYST, INTERNAL REPORTING (ZA1111)

This is a Hybrid position.

About The Position

The Senior Analyst, Internal Reporting is part of a team that supports Ameren's senior leadership and other internal and external stakeholders in understanding and interpreting Ameren's results of operations. The Internal Reporting team is a trusted business adviser to executive leadership and provides monthly reporting needed to make informed decisions to operate the company. The position participates in a collaborative, cross-functional effort to analyze financial and statistical data to explain income statement variances by line item and the underlying business drivers. The position also performs controls and reconciliations that help ensure costs are accounted for correctly and appropriately recovered. The team is also responsible for preparing and reviewing related disclosures in the SEC filings for Ameren Corporation and its two registrant subsidiaries, as well as filings with other regulatory bodies, internal reporting work products, and presentations. In addition, the position plays a supporting role in cross-functional projects, and interfacing with senior leadership.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Provide insight into business drivers and trends affecting Ameren's results of operations in a manner that demonstrates a high level of business acumen.

  • Perform internal controls and cross-checks to identify errors and misstatement.

  • Identify efforts to continually improve the value of our work products for our internal stakeholders, including External Reporting, the broader Controller's function, and corporate and business line leadership.

  • Support communication of financial results to investors, analysts, and other external stakeholders by providing Ameren's Investor Relations team with insight into the business drivers affecting earnings.

  • Ensure accurate financial statements by evaluating results of operations during the monthly close process and identifying inconsistent and/or incorrect data and initiating corrective actions.

  • Prepare internal financial reports and executive-level presentations.

  • Seek out opportunities for professional training and growth as a part of core responsibilities.

  • Analyze and communicate Ameren's results of operations to leadership and other internal stakeholders.

  • Support investors and analysts by preparing SEC filings (e.g. Form 10Q and Form 10K).

  • Assist with analyses and presentations used for discussion with senior leadership and Ameren's Board of Directors.

  • Perform other ad hoc projects as required.

Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university required, preferably in Accounting or Finance. An advanced degree and/or certification (e.g. MBA, CPA, CFA, PE) is preferred. Three or more years of financial analysis, accounting, or other professional level relevant experience required. Prior experience in financial analysis preferred.

In addition to the above qualifications, the successful candidate will demonstrate:

  • The ability to work and conduct research independently, prioritize tasks, multi-task, and manage changing assignments in a collaborative team environment to meet critical deadlines.

  • Strong problem solving, analytical and communication skills.

  • Must be able to effectively interact with various levels of management and subsidiary business line personnel.

  • A strong customer-service orientation.
