Primary Responsibilities:

As the Facility Manager, your core duties will revolve around the economic and efficient management and maintenance of our facility and all its equipment, with a special focus on HVAC and refrigeration systems, while upholding the highest safety and operational standards. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing guidance and mentorship to team members.
  • Ensuring the safe and efficient operation of refrigeration equipment, material handling equipment, building structure, security/fire alarms, and fire suppression systems.
  • Effectively managing a scheduled preventive maintenance program to prevent downtime and take corrective actions.
  • Ensuring the timely completion of tasks and documentation with accuracy and precision.
  • Supporting the achievement of company business plans, strategies, and objectives by coordinating shared resources with other departments and locations.
  • Encouraging cooperative, flexible, and change-ready attitudes for "win/win" outcomes.
  • Promoting exceptional (WOW) Customer Service through effective communication with vendors, both internal and external customers.
  • Managing the work order system for general repairs and maintenance on the building and grounds.
  • Participating in the planning of policies, procedures, goals, and objectives regarding the physical plant.
  • Managing and scheduling outside maintenance vendors through the Request for Proposal (RFP) process.
  • Participating in budgetary responsibilities to control facility maintenance expenses.
  • Ensuring a safe work environment and personal responsibility for safety.
  • Monitoring and managing the shop's safety and sanitation levels.
  • Promoting the adherence to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) standards and maintaining a hazard-free, clean work environment.
  • Active involvement in accident and near-miss investigations.
  • Involvement in the hiring, onboarding, and training of maintenance and refrigeration team members to comply with regulatory agencies and company standards.
  • Monitoring and maintaining departmental payroll, including time and attendance management and PTO requests.
  • Undertaking any other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • Education: High school diploma or GED. College coursework, ongoing technical education, or relevant business experience is preferred.
  • Experience in HVAC and refrigeration is mandatory.
  • Experience with lift truck maintenance or similar equipment is required.
  • Experience with 3-phase electrical systems is essential.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting PI & D drawings, piping schematics, and single-line electrical drawings.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Ability to understand and adhere to EPA and OSHA policies, procedures, programs, and safety management.
  • Strong multitasking skills and the ability to remain focused under pressure.
  • Capacity to provide clear, constructive feedback, coaching, and counseling.
  • Commitment to maintaining confidentiality of team member and company information.
  • Precision and keen attention to detail.
  • Fluent in written and spoken English.
  • Proficiency in math for identifying opportunities and justifying action plan recommendations.
  • Flexibility to accommodate varying schedules, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Competence in using various equipment safely and accurately, including computers, scanners, forklifts, and more.

Physical Demands and Equipment:

  • Capable of independently lifting up to 50 lbs.
  • Able to perform tasks such as sitting, standing, walking, bending, squatting, and climbing stairs and ladders in a refrigerated warehouse environment.
  • Proficient in stepping up onto and down from equipment as required.
  • Ability to reach above shoulder level.
  • Tolerance for fluctuating temperatures, including extreme cold as low as -20 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • Willingness to work in a noisy warehouse environment.
  • Comfort with working at elevated heights while wearing appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • Ability to work in proximity to products that may contain food allergens.
  • Minimal travel may be required.
