RN Infection Control Preventionist Job Summary:

The RN Infection Preventionist facilitates and coordinates facility-wide Infection Prevention programs for the Hospital to assure compliance with local and national regulatory and accrediting standards in order to enhance the quality of patient care consistent with facility policies for the adult to geriatric patient.

The position provides surveillance throughout facility for infection control purposes, coordinates all infection prevention and control activities and programs by assuming direct responsibility for infection surveillance, infection control reporting, and education.

In addition, the position identifies, investigates and records data concerning hospital acquired infections; initiates appropriate infection control measures; oversees records of department activities and budget; works with Human Resources and Staff Development to educate employees in standard precautions and infection prevention practices.

Qualifications

Education: Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing. Bachelor's Degree in nursing, microbiology, Public Health or other related health field required. Master's degree in Nursing preferred. Certification in Infection Control preferred.

Licenses/Certification: Current State RN - Registered Nurse license. Certified in infection control (CIC) preferred.

Experience: Minimum of five (5) years progressive acute care experience to include at least three in infection control and prevention preferred.
