As the Structural Engineer, EIT, here's the work you'll do:
  • Engineer site and building structural systems on medium-to-large scale projects and/or provide full engineering responsibility on smaller scale projects with limited guidance from more senior engineers. Partners with senior engineers to generate project/task vision, to resolve challenging problems, and to ensure/verify successful trajectory of deliverables.
  • Research, analyze, design, and evaluate structural components and systems (foundations, slabs, beams, columns, walls, etc.) to meet project requirements, applying knowledge of structural engineering principles.
  • Prepare construction drawings and specifications for projects in coordination with calculations performed, including directing design staff in production.
  • Engage with project design and client team members, representing the structural department in coordination and presentations.
  • Support construction phase contract administration activities such as Submittals, RFI's, construction support, etc.
  • Perform field surveys to verify existing conditions or evaluate for new design; Takes field measurements when performing retrofits, renovations, or as-builts.
This role is for you if you have these skills:
  • Expected to actively seek and develop competency in structural engineering. Selects appropriate site and building structural systems, and performs engineering calculations competently and efficiently. Highly proficient with calculation / software tools used in department and working knowledge of drawing production software (CADD, BIM, Revit).
  • Begin to assume client facing responsibility as structural department representative at internal and external project meetings. Ability to create and present ideas to clients in form of drawings, sketches, and other exhibits.
  • Competency partnering with all design-construction project members. Project deliverables are well coordinated with other disciplines, constructible and punctual. Ability to coordinate and communicate with architects and engineers both internally and externally. Understands project cost throughout the design. Responsible to support structural CA responsibilities for assigned projects.
  • May function as the Responsible Engineer of Record accountable for the technical sufficiency of some structural department project deliverables for a project - limits of responsibility to be determined in concert with more senior department leadership.
  • Able to build trusted relationships with department through maintaining ownership for assigned work and delivering efficient and high quality results. Expected to be a proactive learner, responsible to seek out support when needed, identify expectations, check own work output against quality expectations, and pursue opportunities to grow technical capabilities. Maintains professional humility and respect in partnership with all team members in pursuit of overall project success. Is expected to know their own technical limitations and proactively seek out support where needed. Ability to take direction and guidance from more senior staff within department/company. Ability to provide direction and guidance to less senior staff within department.
And if you have these qualifications:
  • Bachelors or Masters Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
  • 4 or more relevant years of experience.
  • EIT required & PE preferred*. Ability to obtain PE required; Position will be titled "Engineer-In-Training" if PE is not obtained, or "Engineer" if PE is obtained.
  • U.S. Citizenship required.
  • Ability to obtain security clearance.
  • MS Office suite, CAD/BIM, ability to use and understand engineering software.
  • Great attitude and team player.
  • Successful completion of drug and background screening process.

In compliance with this state's pay transparency laws, the salary range for this role is $76,080 - $114,120. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location. (The specific programs and options available to an employee may vary depending on date of hire, schedule type, and the applicability of collective bargaining agreements).
