As a Staff Systems Test Engineer at Itron, you will have the opportunity to work on cutting edge technology, working across various stages of the software and hardware development cycles, on a wide range of development projects with a team of experienced and talented colleagues. We operate on both Windows and Linux based stacks utilizing a broad range of technologies to provide our high availability end-to-end solutions.

You will contribute to the utility meter manual and automated testing lifecycle activities, including developing test strategies and test plans, creating both manual and automated test cases, executing tests, developing and enhancing automated test framework, and developing software tools. You will work closely with the development teams and product management to understand expected behavior and provide feedback on products.

This position supports a hybrid work environment and requires less than 10% travel.


Job Duties & Responsibilities:

* Develop system test plans, test designs, test goals, and test cases.

* Identify, evaluate, and document defects, questionable behavior, errors and inconsistencies with application functionality, output, online screens, and content.

* Work with the automation team in development of automated test solutions using software testing tools and practices.

* Problem investigation and resolution.

* Respond to inquiries from technical support regarding functions and operation of software applications.

* Report test results and evaluation.

* Ready back-office and endpoint environment(s) for upcoming test programs.

* Perform local configuration/setup/troubleshooting as device changes/updates/testing requires.

* Initiate, and manage, in-depth analysis of any/all issues that arise during installation, operation and management of back-office and other products.

Education: Bachelors Degree in a STEM field or equivalent work experience

Required Skills:

* Minimum of 4 years testing complex systems.

* Experience with ADS, or similar, test management software.

* Experience as liaison between DevOps, IT, Test, and other teams for solving complex issues.

* Experience working on both Windows and Linux development environments.

* Problem solving.

* Development and debug tools and use.

* Good oral and written communication skills.

Preferred Skills:

* Ability to construct simple test jigs - including wiring, mechanical and other skills.

* Excellent organizational, verbal, and written communication skills.

* Experience with Python.

* Experience with Raspberry Pi.

* Experience with SQLite DB.

* Experience with back-office environments for metering - electric / water / gas / ZigBee.

* Experience in software development largely focused in C#, Java, and other common languages.

* Working knowledge of TCP, UDP, IPv4, IPv6, Wi-Fi, DHCP, DNS.

Travel: 0-10%

Physical demands: Applicant must be able lift and carry electrical test equipment weighing less that 20 pounds short distances. Connecting and disconnecting electrical test equipment is also required. This is a safety sensitive role.

Salary Range for Liberty Lake, WA: 75k - 148k

The successful candidate's starting salary will be determined based on permissible, non-discriminatory factors such as skills and experience.
