Job Description

Position Summary:

The Maintenance Mechanic works to execute planned maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of site equipment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Understands and demonstrates safe work practices for chemical plant maintenance and Albemarle safe work practices; takes a proactive approach to preventative maintenance.
  • Believes in working safely and complies with Albemarle safety and work procedures.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with ability to maintain and troubleshoot site process equipment; respond to callouts.
  • History of excellent quality results in daily work activities; must be motivated and self-directed with the ability to work in a team environment.
  • General knowledge of safe and proper use of all hand, portable and stationary tools required to complete assigned duties.
  • Daily responsibilities include, but are not limited, to:
    • Scheduling and planning Maintenance work.
    • Perform plant-wide PM's as required.
    • Maintain Mechanical Integrity compliance schedule.
    • Inspection recordkeeping.
    • General labor, repairs, and fabrication.
    • Parts procurement.
    • Aid in design of site growth projects.
    • Responsible for Electrical and Instrumentation management.
  • Collaborate with Corporate Maintenance Teams for continuing education.

Education and Required Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent.
  • 5+ years of experience in the maintenance field.
  • Physical requirements: Lifting up to 50 lbs., frequent walking, bending, stooping, balancing, ascending, and descending ladders, operating various mobile equipment, pulling, crouching, twisting, and reaching. Requires handling tools and equipment necessary to perform above listed tasks.
  • Pass HAZWOPER physicals and annual respirator fit testing; ability to participate on site's Emergency Response Team.
  • Functional millwright skills (alignment, couplings, belts, pulleys, etc.); drawing and fabrication of piping systems (lined, screwed, and welded).
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills. Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office) and able to learn other programs (SAP, Lotus); ability to work with CAD programming for drawings and design.
  • General knowledge of centrifugal pumps and hydraulic systems.
  • Familiar with general and heavy construction techniques (pipefitting, welding, steel work); basic Welding skills.
  • Rigging or heavy lift experience.
  • Experience with FRP, glass lined equipment, and exotic metals.
  • CDL or desire to acquire (site paid).
