Job Description

As a Payroll Specialist , you will be responsible for accurately processing payroll transactions for all business units under the Honor Foods Business Unit. Ensuring compliance with relevant regulations, and contributing to the smooth operation of the payroll function. The Payroll Specialist must ensure Honor Foods is compliant with all state and federal regulations. It requires high confidentiality due to access to sensitive Team Member information

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assure payroll deductions for employee contributions including insurance and garnishments.

  • Ensure accurate processing, reconciliation, and recordkeeping of multi-state payroll. Resolve escalated payroll issues and/or discrepancies.

  • Connect with Payroll Departments in the other Business Units.

  • Project lead for payroll-related projects, including continuous development of processes that are scalable and support the company's growth.

  • Research discrepancies in payroll information on a timely basis to ensure accuracy and prior to processing.

  • Manage and process bi-weekly payroll

  • Continuously review and optimize payroll processes to enhance efficiency and accuracy.

  • Stay up to date with federal, state, and local tax laws and regulations and ensure compliance in all payroll activities.

  • Calculate and withhold appropriate taxes, process tax deposits, and prepare tax forms, including W-2s
  • Other assigned duties as required

Education/Experience:

  • Must have a Bachelor's degree in Business field or a minimum of 3+ years' work experience in HR, benefits, and/or payroll.

  • Experience filing multi-state including familiarity with California wage laws and federal Payroll Taxes

  • Detail oriented approach

  • Proficiency in payroll software and familiarity with HRIS (Human Resources Information System) and timekeeping systems.

  • Experience with Ceridian Dayforce experience preferred.

  • Strong knowledge of payroll tax laws and regulations.

  • Prior experience and exposure with the full, end-to-end, payroll process

  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to data accuracy

  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion
