Locations: Newport Mental Health and South County
PURPOSE: TO PROVIDE ASSISTANCE TO PHYSICIANS AND CARE TO PATIENTS
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Arrange and book all annual physical appointments as needed
* Assist the physician during all physicals and admissions
* Be responsible for phlebotomy, urine collection, vital signs and tb testing and maintain associated documentation
* Be responsible for vaccinations as indicated and maintain associated documentation
* Complete all documentation accurately and in a timely manner
* Assist with putting patients on "hold" for lab reviews, ppd evaluations, scheduling, and vaccinations
* Collect and collate all lab work for review by physician
* Gather charts that require MD signatures for review by physician on "doctor days"
* Maintain exam room and medical clinic area and restock as needed
* Weekly inventory at each site, order and restock as needed
* Quarterly check of First Aid kit, document on checklist, and maintain inventory of First Aid kit at each site
* File medical paperwork and patients charts weekly
* Provide patients with referrals as requested by medical staff
* Maintain daily refrigerator temperature logs
* Maintain vaccination logs as required by Dept. of Health
* Fax temperature logs and vaccination logs to Dept. of Health monthly
* Provide supervision to CMA interns under the direction of the Director of Nursing and Healthcare Services
* Document all services, in the patient record, to reflect Health Home Services
* Obtain and sustain Motivational Interviewing proficiency
* Participate in Quality Improvement activities
* Perform other duties as requested by nursing staff, program staff, and supervisor
QUALIFICATIONS: Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant training program One year experience in a clinic setting preferred
