The Staff Mechanical Design Engineer will be responsible for the design, test and qualification of systems containing precision motion stages for release to ensure they meet performance & reliability requirements. Additionally, they will 1) define the requirements, source, configure, test, and 2) validate the motion solutions for various projects from concept to production in a fast-paced environment. Other responsibilities would entail programming multi-axis motion controllers for optomechanical and robotic operations that are tightly synchronized with the operation of illumination, image acquisition, and fluidics subsystems. They will verify the mechanical and electrical specifications of various motion stages, motors, and actuators by sourcing or building necessary fixtures and configuring or writing necessary software to acquire data. They will work closely with software engineers and other hardware design engineers in a team environment to ensure successful integration the solutions they develop. It is expected that they may be asked to work with motion control vendors for custom designed products ensuring optimal solution performance, cost, and development time.
