Join Our Mission

The Registered Professional Nurse/RN position is responsible for delivering quality nursing care to all clients. The Registered Nurse provides an initial health assessment of youth entering the facility including but not limited to health history, physical exams, and laboratory tests and provides treatment of emergency and/or serious acute health conditions.

Job Responsibilities

  • Provides nursing services, treatment and continuity of care for all youth, in conjunction with other practitioners, to ensure health needs are addressed in a timely manner.
  • Oversees and coordinates daily operation of medical unit; dispenses medications to be administered by non-medical staff in the absence of medical personnel.

  • Provides initial health assessments of all newly admitted youth. Maintains records of all youth health assessments.

  • Conducts clinics daily; assessing, medicating, treating and educating.

  • Treats youth at other scheduled times and delivers first aid / emergency care to youth when needed.

Job Requirements

  • Minimum Associate's Degree in Nursing. Bachelor's degree in nursing preferred. Current New York State Registered Professional Nurse's license and CPR/First Aid certification.

  • Minimum 3- 5 years of experience. Experience with at-risk youth in an institutional environment preferred.

  • Flexible schedule and ability to provide weekend, and holiday.
  • Ability to work with a culturally and economically diverse population.

  • Skills: ability to exercise sound judgment and follow detailed oral or written instructions; demonstrated oral and written communication skills; demonstrated knowledge of the principles of professional nursing, health promotion, disease prevention and nutrition including federal and state rules and regulations concerning health services; demonstrated knowledge of safety principles and infections control.

Schedule:

  • Monday-Friday from 8AM-4PM or 9AM-5PM.
