Job Description

Our Community Support Program is searching for a Medication Room Technician to assist nurses with medication reconciliation, pharmacy coordination, medication preparation for distribution to clients by Team staff, monitoring and upkeep of supplies and environment in the Med Room, sample ordering and inventory. Candidate must be able to read, speak and write in English, to read and pronounce the names of medications, to visually confirm labelling and content of medication packaging, to utilize fine and gross motor skills to manipulate tools and supplies required to process medications according to established practices. Must understand medical terminology especially related to medication formulation, dosing and administration. Must follow directions and all applicable federal, state, local and agency rules and regulations governing the safe handling of medications and prescriptions. Must adhere to HIPAA guidelines regarding privacy of client information. Must recognize and respond appropriately to environmental, interpersonal and liability risk situations. Must seek supervision in situations beyond individuals' scope of practice. Must show a commitment to learning about and meeting the complex needs of patients. Interpersonal professionalism is essential.

Education/Licensing Requirements:

  • Certification to practice as a Certified Nursing Assistant and Medication Aide or LPN in Rhode Island, 2 Years experience as a Certified Medication Aide OR as an LPN.
  • Medication handling or pharmacy tech experience strongly preferred.
  • Basic keyboarding and computer skills including Microsoft Office products.
