BioMarin’s Technical Operations group is responsible for creating our drugs for use in clinical trials and for scaling production of those drugs for the commercial market. These engineers, technicians, scientists and support staff build and maintain BioMarin’s cutting-edge manufacturing processes and sites, provide quality assurance and quality control to ensure we meet regulatory standards, and procure the needed goods and services to support manufacturing and coordinating the worldwide movement of our drugs to patients.

- Ensuring raw material purchasing is executed to support uninterrupted supply of materials to MFG in accordance with the production plan.
- Managing and mitigating risk associated with fluctuations in production plans, supplier reliability, warehouse space constraints, and cost.
- Stewardship of raw material purchasing data in ERP for accurate forecasting, execution, and analytics.
- Oversees raw material purchasing operations.
- Performs forecasting, spend analyses, financial assessments, material assessments, and historical trend analyses.
- Supports Regulatory, Compliance, Quality, and SOX audit requests.
- Evaluates supplier performance against established scorecards and participates in supplier business reviews.
- Ensures timely receipting of orders and payment to suppliers.
- Maintains MRP planning data and safety stock strategy.
- Supports Manufacturing with clear communication and collaboration on risk mitigation.
- Complies with EHS&S safety guidelines.
- Authors, reviews, and improves SOP’s and Work Instructions as required.
- Demonstrates the concepts of the network neighborhood.
- Presents and trends defined metrics.
- Manages raw material shortage/stock out.
- Ensures the efficiency of materials, processing requirements, equipment function and personnel performance for the daily operations.
- Issues deviations and change requests and works with department managers and/or QA professionals to evaluate, process and close records.
- Sets project time frames and priorities based on objectives with effective tracking and management of progress.
- Required Education: Bachelors in Life Science, Business, Operations Management, or Industrial Engineering required.
- Preferred Education: APICS certification and/or supply chain education preferred but not required.
- Other continuing education initiatives are highly desirable (e.g., Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, industry specific coursework).
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in the biotech/pharma industry with experience in supply chain, warehouse operations, and/or manufacturing operations.
- Strong understanding of ERP/MRP systems and processes (Knowledge of SAP is preferred)
- Demonstrated ability to work cross-functionally and partner with other functional groups to achieve business objectives required.
- Skillful application of KPI’s and metrics to manage business processes and support strong team performance.

In the U.S., the salary range for this position is $ 105,300 to $ 157,900 per year, which factors in various geographic regions. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate's geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A discretionary bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
